Screen Analysis-Representation of Gender,Sexuality and Race in "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters"

How are Fairy Tales brought into a Mature context in the film "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters"?

In order to address this, i'm going to analyise the opening scenes of the film. Within this, the opening is split, with the opening addressing the original tale, and the second part and rest of the film addressing what happens after. I'm going to analyse the how the characters are represented within the film.

The film switches the traditional gender roles within the female leads in the movie. Within the opening sequence, we see the man enter the house, within costume, both male and female leads in this scene are dressed very traditionally and stereo-typically. The man is dressed in rough distressed clothing and a lantern, implying that he works harder as the man of the house hold.
